NETWORK HACKING CHAPTER 3

..WIRELESS MODES..

(MANAGER MODE & MONITOR MODE)

As we know MAC id is used to sent packets to the right destination and we can only receive packets that are sent to our MAC address ,but we need to know that this is just the limitation for the default mode of our wifi card , which is the MANAGER MODE. However there is mode that allow as to capture all the packets in our wifi range , ie the packets sent to all mac address in our wifi range , hence this mode is called MONITOR MODE.
> iwconfig
helps to know the details of our wireless card (mode,mac,ip,etc...)
Monitor mode tells the wireless card to capture data sent though our wireless card range , ie it captures data transfered between different MAC addresses other than ours, in the range of our wifi network.
